GK Message for April and May

Dear Brother Knights in Christ:
Alleluia! Hope your Easter was the best possible for you and your family. Perhaps one of my high points this past lent was the realization of what the Knights of Columbus does and stands for. While attending the Holy Thursday Service and the washing of the feet, I was keenly reminded that Jesus taught us to to be His disciples and to serve others, just as He did. It really was apparent in my mind, that this is the essence of being a Knight. As I reflect on all the charitable projects, events, and volunteer work you have done this year, you are indeed feet washers of Christ, humbly serving His people as taught. Just want to give a heartfelt thank-you to all that have help in any way this year so far! All our events have been very successful as we have been exceeding our goals and objectives
As we head into the final quarter of this busy fraternal year, April will be very busy also. Spring Booya is April 11, State Bowling Tournament April 10 & 11, and The Tootsie Roll weekend April 23, 24, and 25th. Tootsie Rolls are a great event that takes very little effort and only a couple of hours! It is a great way to meet other Knights and you can even bring the kids and let them help. As with all the charitable events the Knights of Columbus do, Tootsie Roll weekend is also a great way to practice being a foot washer and serving others as a disciple of Christ. Mark Your Calendars for the Spring Breakfast, Sunday, May 2, 2010 in O'Reilley Hall from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. The Living Rosary is on Monday, May 3, 2010 in Holy Redeemer Chapel at 7:00 pm.
Attention All Brother Knights and Spouses/Guests: The Past Grand Knights Dinner is scheduled for Thursday, May 20 at 6:00 pm at Gulden's 61 Restaurant. Please join us to celebrate another successful program and fundraising year and to celebrate the 50th year of Council #4967. The cost is $25.00 per person and includes dinner. Please RSVP to John Lawless at maryjon.lawless@comcast.net or via phone at 651-651-779-0917. We will be recognizing Lawrence Grose, Richard Bol, Edward Scheider, Paul Koller, Stephan Bleess, Vernon Lahr, Robert Minke, Howard Nelson, Father Stanley Maslowski, Richard Foster, Joseph Foster, and Jerome Cybyske for 50 years of continual membership in the Knights of Columbus.
